This month has seen the successful completion of a 6 month project to replace the entire control system on a 15 year old high-speed rewind line which was originally manufactured and supplied by Pipe Coil Technology Ltd.
The project involved designing and manufacturing new control enclosure using latest technology components and writing new control software for the new PLC, motor controllers and the new HMI screen. The installation of the new control system and re-commissioning of the rewind line was carried out on the customers' premises over a three week period.
As well as achieving the brief of installing a new control system, which will have a working life of at least 10 years, the performance of the equipment was improved and optimised, resulting in a 25% increase in pipe throughput capacity.
